Margaret Patricia Dapkus, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 2, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia, Michigan.
She was born on November 4, 1924 in Pringle, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Anna Paralis, Lithuanian parents. She was a graduate of Pringle High School where her brother was a Teacher, and attended business college. She worked for the government during the war as a Keypunch Operator and lived with girlfriends in Baltimore, Maryland.
She met her husband, Bill, a handsome man in uniform, during this time and they dated for a few years and married in 1948. Dad passed in 1998, and mom became a great matriarch for all these years. They had three children, Bill, Lynn and Ted, 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Haley, Sarah, Laura, Rachel, Theresa, Eric, Ashley, Benjamin, David and Rebecca, and 7 great-grandchildren, Alex, Damian, Stella, Katherine, Victoria, Calvin and Jack, with 2 more on the way.
Margaret was very religious and an active lector and member of Divine Providence Lithuanian Church and Our Lady of Sorrows through the years. She was also a pretty good golfer, a past president of the Hill & Dale Garden Club and a member of many bible study groups. She traveled with Bill to Egypt, Europe, Lithuania, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii and many U.S. cities.
Margaret always had a special gift for the little ones and with family and guests she enjoyed holidays, a good movie and birthdays. She was the youngest of seven children and lived the longest. Margaret made everything special, and so, we invite you to join us at her Visitation. Please come and celebrate this most wonderful woman.
